Fruit Salad... with Mollusc

I'm experimenting with the idea that if the Opera House was a sea creature it would have the ability to curl back up. In my Sketchup model I've represented the geometry of the Opera House sails "Curled" up as though it is preparing to submerge itself in the harbour. Utzon said of the Sails of the Opera house inspiration was derived from segments of an orange. For my above-ground structure I think it could be fun to base the design on another piece of fruit. Perhaps some kind of melon that Jiro Ono would use to make a dessert. The working title for my project is "Fruit Salad... with Mollusc."

(Note: the Sketchup model of the actual Opera House in the mid-ground of these images is from the Google 3D warehouse and is not my own work! I'm using it as a reference model. Lucky for me there are obviously many Sketchup users out there who are much, much more skilled than I am. Using this model as a frame of referrence is helping me get the hang of more complex geometries in Sketchup.)

The Utzon Conundrum

In order to figure out the geometry of Utzon's sails, i was experimenting with taking the form of the sails out of section of a sphere. If somebody knows a better way to go about recreating the sails, I'd be grateful for some advice :)
